NHS gynaecology clinic for women

PATIENTS of the Fortis group (12 Southend doctors’ surgeries*) who may need to be referred to a specialist for gynaecological conditions will now be able to see a consultant quicker and in a community clinic setting. Fortis, the umbrella organisation of 12 like-minded GP practices, has been given the go ahead by NHS South East Essex to set up a consultant-led gynaecology clinic at one.day medical centre on the London Road in Leigh. This means women will not have to travel to a hospital to see a gynaecological consultant and will be seen within 15 working days of being referred by their GP. The clinic starts on August 3rd and is being provided by gynaecological consultants Debbie Jennings and Khalil Razvi. Sharon Tattoo, one.day’s General Manager, said: “We already run a number of NHS clinics here, including endoscopy, ENT and urology, and patients have told us they welcome being seen locally, quickly, efficiently and with the least fuss and waiting. Not only will patients be guaranteed an appointment with a consultant, but it will significantly speed up referral to treatment time. Sharon added: “Our patients have praised our staff and consultants for the way they are treated – from their arrival to departure.
